Biography

1959

Born in Gaildorf (Baden-Wuerttemberg).

1978–1982

Studied Piano privately with Professor Renate Werner (Stuttgart).

1982–1986

Musical scholastics in Dortmund: Piano with Professor Arnulf von Arnim, theory and composition with Professor Gerhart Schäfer.

1985

Prize - winner at »Forum junger deutscher Komponisten für Orchestermusik«.

Since 1985

Live-recordings and productions at various radio-stations (Saarl. Rundfunk, WDR, SDR).

1989-2002

Teacher for Music theory at the state university for music in Detmold, department Dortmund.

1990

Supporting prize of the City of Dortmund for young artists.

Since 1991

Regular international performances, among others in Moscow, Paris, Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro and Florence.

1996–1998

Scholarship holder of the Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken – foundation.

2001

Worldpremiere of the dance oratorio "Die Ordnung der Erde" op. 30 after the Gilgamesh - Epic in the „Musiktheater Gelsenkirchen“ in the production and choreography of Bernd Schindowski.

2002

1. Prize at the composition contest of the European festival "Windrose"

2004–2006

Given the honour of composing for the Stages of the Cities Krefeld/Mönchengladbach along with a scholarship of the Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken – foundation for the opera "Das Frauenorchester von Auschwitz" (The women’s orchestra of Auschwitz).

2005–2006

Composer in Residence at the University of Witten/Herdecke.

2007

Hans-Werner-Henze-Award in Dortmund

Since 1996, Stefan Heucke lives as freelancing composer in Bochum.
